Philip Kolvin QC is the Head of Cornerstone Barristers, a leading chambers practising in the fields of licensing, planning, property, housing and public law. A nationally renowned licensing specialist, he appears for leading operators in all his fields of practice – pubs, clubs, supermarkets, festivals, betting offices, casinos, lap dancing clubs and sex shops. Philip acts for Uber in litigation across the UK. He also acts for national regulators the Security Industry Authority and the Gambling Commission. Philip is the Patron of the Institute of Licensing, a board Member of the Sports Grounds Safety Authority and an advisory board member of the Otherworld Museum Lates Festival. He is the past Chair of the Night Time Commission for London, the Institute of Licensing, Best Bar None, Purple Flag and the Civic Trust. He is widely published in the field of licensing and public law, having written the Mayor’s Vision for London’s Night Time Economy, and written or edited books on alcohol, entertainment, gambling and sex licensing, anti-social behaviour and councillors’ conduct. He also sits as a Recorder of the Crown Court, presiding over jury trials.
